American Seafoods Company (ASC) operates seven U.S.-flagged catcher-processor vessels. The company began fishing operations in 1988 with the C/P American Empress. ASC has been involved in the Community Development Quota (CDQ) Program since its inception in 1992 as a partner with Central Bering Sea Fishermen’s Association (CBSFA), with which ASC continues this partnership today. In 2000 ASC will also begin a partnership with Coastal Villages Region Fund. ASC provides a primary source of revenue to these CDQ groups through our purchase and harvest of CDQ pollock quota, as well as offering employment and training opportunities, scholarships, and other business opportunities.
