Alaska Ocean Seafood was established in 1988 for the purpose of processing and marketing seafood products. In 1990, the company commissioned the catcher/processor Alaska Ocean, designed and built specifically to catch and process Alaska pollock and Pacific whiting. At 376 feet, the Alaska Ocean is the largest catcher/processor in the U.S. fleet.

Employment Information

All crew works a minimum of 7 days/week. Processors are paid by the hour with entry level processors earning approximately $815/week (which includes an attendance incentive of $25.00 per day). Overtime pay (time and a half) is paid for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

Regular employees are eligible to receive medical/dental insurance coverage for themselves and their dependents. The cost of the medical insurance premium is paid 100% by Alaska Ocean Seafood and employees are eligible to participate beginning the first of the month following sixty days of employment. Alaska Ocean pays for transportation to and from the ship and there is no charge for room or meals on board the ship.

Selected candidates must pass a drug test. Alaska Ocean pays the cost of the drug test and physical.
