Glacier Fish Company was founded by a small group of Seattle-area fishing families in 1983, and has been under the continuous management of Erik Breivik since then. The objective was to produce the highest quality of frozen-at-sea groundfish products available and to set the industry standard for harvesting and processing technology. The company operates two catcher processor vessels, the Northern Glacier and the Pacific Glacier, and a freezer longliner, the Norton Sound. In 1997 Glacier Fish Company entered a co-ownership agreement with the Norton Sound Economic Development Corporation -- its longtime CDQ partner.

Employment Information

Glacier Fish Company values employees who will work long hard hours, pay close attention to detail, and dedicate themselves to producing high quality seafood products in a drug-free environment. In return, Glacier Fish employees are compensated on a crew share basis, meaning that all crewmembers are paid based on the production of the assigned vessel.

Employees work 16 hours per day, 7 days a week during a typical trip, which can last for 15-30 days. Successful employees may be given the opportunity to extend for an additional trip(s). There is no charge for room and board while employed on the vessels. The bunking arrangements are modest, with 4 to 6 crewmembers per room.

Each applicant is screened based on references from previous employers, a pre-employment drug test, a physical exam, and a thorough interview. Applicants can apply in person to our Seattle office, or submit a self-addressed stamped envelope to receive an application by mail.
