Highland Light is part of the Yardarm Knot Group which was established in 1988 by Washington fishermen to harvest and process Alaska crab, salmon, and groundfish. Yardarm Knot took delivery of the c/p Highland Light in 1990 from Bender Shipbuilding and Repair Co. of Mobile, Alabama. The vessel is designed to process and package headed and gutted fish, fish roe and fillets. Highland Light has entered into an agreement with Coastal Villages to harvest and process CDQ pollock beginning in the year 2000.

Employment Information
Employees work 12-16 hours per day, 7 days a week. Contracts are generally 90 days in length and successful employees are given the opportunity to extend for an additional trip(s). There are no charges for room and board while employed on the vessels. The bunking arrangements are modest, with 4 to 6 crewmembers per room.
All crewmembers are paid on a crew share basis. Crewmembers accept financial risk when signing. Highland Light offers a daily minimum guarantee for processors.
Highland Light is a strict zero tolerance company. Anyone found to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol may be terminated without warning. Employment is contingent is passing a drug test and physical exam, both of which are paid for by Highland Light.
