Giving Back
Community Catch
Giving back by donating Alaska Pollock and sponsoring meals multiple times each year is a significant part of our mission to foster goodwill across all aspects of what we do. APA plans and coordinates service events where our Member Companies rotate volunteering and serving a hot meal to the underprivileged communities in Anchorage and Seattle.
APA provides high-quality seafood, an item highly desired by food banks, to hungry disadvantaged Americans through its Community Catch Program. The Community Catch initiative expands a long-standing commitment by APA companies to provide this important sustainable protein source to local food bank programs.
Food for Steller Sea Lions
Many of the sea creatures residing at the Alaska Sea Life Center in Seward are fed on Alaska pollock that is donated by the APA member companies. The fish is:
Sorted on individual vessels by each APA Member Company
Then stored by OSI and Kloosterboer based in Dutch Harbor
Samsun Tug and Barge transports the fish to the Seward Sea Life Center
Thank you to APA companies and partners for donating Alaska pollock and support services at no charge.
APA Member companies also donate Alaska pollock for research, including for sea lion feeding studies.
